Virginia Volunteer Umpire Training
FLYER
Saturday, February 15, 2025 @ George P. Phenix School (1061 Big Bethel Road, Hampton VA 23666) from 8am-4:30pm
FREE SESSION - Pre-registration is required through this link by February 7.
This session is geared towards teenagers, parents, and volunteers wanting to learn about umpiring. This session would be beneficial to those who are called out of the stands to help volunteer. Individuals must be a minimum of 15 years old.
This is not your typical umpire training. The Saturday session will provide “basic” umpiring training/skills to LL Baseball/Softball volunteers to help increase the willingness and confidence to umpire regular season games in their league and district. The instruction will be guided by District Umpiring Training teams. The goal of Saturday’s session(s) are not designed to prepare volunteers to be eligible for tournament games. However, all volunteers (new, experienced, advanced) are more than welcome. The agenda will consist of classroom discussions and field mechanics in the gym(s). Most, if not all, sessions will be indoors so wear appropriate clothing. Soft soled shoes (i.e. tennis shoes) are required for activities in the gym.
Additional Advanced Session - Sunday, February 16, 2025 @ George P. Phenix School (1061 Big Bethel Road, Hampton VA 23666) from 8am-4:30pm
PAID SESSION - Pre-registration is required through this link by February 7.
The Little League 1-Day Outreach Clinic will be led by members of the Little League Instructor Staff and seeks to help umpires of all experience levels learn the fundaments of umpiring Little League Baseball and Softball. Instruction will focus on The Role of the Little League Umpire, the Basics of Working the Plate, Field Mechanics, and Working the2-Umpire System and leverage on-field drills and simulations to introduce, apply, and reinforce the concepts presented.
